Radio Talk: Scam Or Life-Changing?

Our in-house DJ got into a big conversation about making money online. We had many people call in and give us their opinion whether these type of products are scams or if they really can change your life. Here is the sum of the conversation that was had online.

There is an entrepreneurial spirit in all of us. Each and every person on this Earth has some idea, some inkling of an epiphany that could be a spark of greatness. The question we always find ourselves pondering is where can this spark be ignited? How do I get my ideas, my passions, out into the world? There’s an abundance of websites out there that hail themselves as ways to promote your ideas, and make money doing it. In the great wide ether of the internet there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of these sites. Today we’re going to be focusing on one; Wealthy Affiliate, and in turn, the debatable Wealthy Affiliate scam.

This is a program that supposedly gives you the opportunity to, “Turn any passion into a successful affiliate marketing business.” This is a vague and somewhat lofty statement that hits a few key buzzwords to catch your attention. Namely, “passion” and “successful.” From the start of many callers stories about the program, I could smell hints of ‘Wealthy Affiliate scam’ in the air. But, giving the site its due diligence, I pressed onward.

The site promotes itself in four simple steps. First you decide on an interest, figuring out what you are passionate about and what you might want to promote in some way online. Step two is to build a website, a service that Wealthy Affiliate have built their own platform for. The next step is to attract visitors; they offer training on how to drive traffic to your site. Last is the step we’ve all been waiting for, earning revenue. This is where we are introduced to affiliate programs, special money making programs that companies like Amazon, Walmart, Target, and Microsoft utilize, paying individuals commission to promote their products on their sites.

From there you are prompted to join their site for free, and begin on your trail to cash and success! For those of you who have not heard of affiliate programs before, they’re real and they work. I knew about them long before I heard of Wealthy Affiliates, and I can say with confidence this site is not a scam. It simply utilizes the affiliates programs that exists all over the web and collects them in one place, offering services to help people use these programs all in one place. When you find articles about a Wealthy Affiliate scam, I can assure you that it’s just not true, but rather should be considered a healthy marketing tool for those who want the guidance in how to build a brand and use affiliate programs to their benefit.
