Perhaps the prototype one-hit wonder, Jackson, Mississippi vocalist Fern Kinney was in the Poppies along with Dorothy Moore before she signed with Atlantic. Kinney moved to Malaco in the late '70s, and her cover of King Floyd's "Groove Me" made it into the R&B Top 30, though neither of the LPs Groove Me or Fern sustained her initial momentum.
