A female trio from Detroit, Magic Lady served as background vocalists for Enchantment, Shirley Caesar, Bob Seger, Keith Barrow, and the Soul Searchers, then landed their own deal with A&M in 1978. Linda Stokes, the wife of Michael Stokes, was the brains behind their formation. They cut one LP each for A&M and Motown, with their second album being issued in 1982. Neither proved very successful. Linda Stokes, Jackie Steele, and Kimberly Ball comprised the lineup.
